The test is repeated 12 times at 5-second intervals. The test results from the webhost speed / performance benchmark script are then sorted from best (fastest; lowest PHP execution times) to the worst (slowest; highest numbers). There are currently about 100 Free PHP Web Hosting sites listed with reviews on Free-webhosts.com, Free-webhosts has tested most of the popular free hosting companies with the largest infrasturcture which are most likely to be the fastest in the world.

Our Independent Review Panel was unsatisfied in one department. Virtual plans require a minimum contract of a year. Our Independent Review Panel maintains that the option for a month to month contract should be included. We know from the feedback we get from developers and from our experience in the industry, most users prefer the option to pay month to month because it gives them a feeling of security by not being locked in to a long term contract.

Although you do not get MS SQL databases with the base hosting plan. Adding a SQL Server Database (one database up to 50 MB) costs a little over $2 a month. Though like the rest of ReadyHosting.com's extras and plans, this is purchased in a yearly basis.

Administration of your Web space is handled through the Cpanel control panel (a previous Editors' Choice Award Winner). Notable features include nightly system backups, spam prevention software, MySQL databases, Webilizer Stats, Python support, Cron Job management, MIME Type management, Real Media support, and Shockwave Support.
Although monthly data transfer and Web space run about the industry average, Web sites load quickly; a tribute to their handling of system resources on their servers and the quality of their network.
Speaking of networks, Akashik.net houses their servers in the Peak10 data center in Jacksonville, Florida. Peak10's network is connected to the Internet via multiple Tier-1 Internet providers for added redundancy. Backup power generators, fire suppression systems, video surveillance security, and all the other bells and whistles found at a good data center can be found at Peak10.
Support is handled via 24/7 ticket and 24/7 email. We have long maintained that the ultimate in support is responsive, toll-free 24/7 technical phone support. Although they fell short of this, during our test period our Independent Review Panel found tech support to be professional, courteous, and many questions were answered at length. On average, response times were well above the industry standard.

The only serious drawback our Independent Review Panel saw was lack of a knowledge base or FAQ area. A good knowledge base gives Web developers quick answers to common problems while it decreases the company's support overhead. Our Independent Review Panel firmly believes that a FAQ or knowledge base section is one of the basic assets of a complete support area.

Verdict:
Akashik.net offers very good Budget hosting plans with a quality network. We would have preferred to have the option of phone support as well as having a Knowledge Base but we found their support to be fast and consistently much better than average. Akashik.net does not provide a lot of bells and whistles with their Web plans, but they are very highly regarded in the industry for being fair and reliable.
